Pet-Microchipping

Implanting a chip

We can micro-chip dogs, cats, rabbits, and ferretts. Smaller pets can not be chipped. Other animals ie horses need to be done by a vet. You can get reptiles done by a zoo chipper.

A pet must be in good health and NOT pregnant to have a chip.

Puppies can be chipped at 8-10 weeks unless a very small breed then we require them to be 10-12 weeks, the same with kittens and other small mammels.

The chip is put into the skin at the shoulder blades of the animal. It only takes a few seconds.

If your pet is likely to bite please instruct us so we can place a muzzel on. Also do please make us aware if your pet is likely to struggle alot so we can hold the pet firm and get the chip in as quickly & as painlessley for your animal,as possible.

Common questions:-

Will it hurt my pet?

Maybe a sting but only for a second, no more than getting your ears peirced and you've all let your children have that done! Some pets may yelp or struggle, this is as likely to be because they are being held tightly in a position they are not happy with, rather the quick injection. Most pets will not react at all.

Will it bleed?

In some cases it might bleed a little but generally no.

In very very rare cases animals (as well as humans) have a clotting disorder called Von Willebrand's disease  which would cause your pet to bleed exessively and require medical treatment. If you are aware your pet has this condition please take them to a vets to be microchipped, our implanters are trained and qualifield in chip implanting but are not vets.
